Hey Strangers!
I’m sending this month’s newsletter a few days early since I have exciting news! I’m announcing the title of my sequel later today, and I wanted you all (along with my Discord Street Team) to be the first to know! If you’re on Discord and want to join, definitely let me know! I’ll send you an invite.

Book two of the Strangers series will be called STRANGERS IN OUR HEARTS. (enter me screaming!)
This fall, we’ll continue following Gemma and Theo and see what happens to them as their worldviews are shattered. The book is also listed on Goodreads and StoryGraph now, so you can add it there!
Blurb for Strangers # 2:
Theo Goodwin is used to running, while Gemma Roberts wants nothing more than to find somewhere to call home—someplace to belong. With the threat of the Authorities looming, despite their strange connection and a shared desire to protect their family, a compromise between fight or flight is no easy feat. As they traverse a new shared life together, they must learn to understand one another for the survival of not only themselves but also those they hold dear.
When a new group swoops in with their own unique powers and motivations that threaten to ruin everything Theo and Gemma have worked toward, the invitation into their broader community has its appeals but equal drawbacks. Tension simmers within their crew, testing their bonds and questioning their unity. As they navigate this delicate balance, they’ll discover the world isn’t what it seems and finally put a word to what they are—mutants. More are found every day, with abilities far beyond what they thought possible. And the Authorities are doing more than hunting them down.
With mutants on the precipice of war with the government, will they decide to join the cause and fight or continue to run and hide?
We’re going to do a cover reveal here shortly as well (this month? or next month?), so stay tuned for that!
Aside from that, I just got my first round of edits back this past Sunday, so I’m hunkering down for the foreseeable future to get this book back to my editor. We’re still looking at a fall publication date, but I don’t want to solidify a date until we’re done with edits. (Just know this book has made me AND my editor cry, so get your tissues ready.)
Lastly, STRANGERS IN OUR HEADS is currently in two indie book competitions. BBNYA (Book Bloggers Novel of the Year Award) and SPFBOX (Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off). I won’t hear back about either of them for quite some time, but send all the good vibes that Strangers makes it as far as it can!
For SPFBOX specifically, I was a guest on Bald&Balding’s YouTube channel near the end of May. It was supposed to be a panel of authors, and then it was only two of us, and then the one didn’t show the night of, so it turned into 45 minutes of just me which was extremely nervewracking! If you want to watch it, you can stream it here.

As a reminder, I have two book events coming up this summer/fall:

The end of May/beginning of June brought baby showers, dinner with friends, and an overdue Barnes & Noble trip. But the most eventful was a trip to Pittsburgh to see three Atlanta Braves games. We walked over seven miles a day, ate all the greasy food, and had some drinks throughout the stay. We baked under the sun, got rained on at one point, and fought for our lives against the amount of foul balls heading our way.

I’m still currently beta reading for three amazing authors (two are the same and ongoing, but I finished one friend’s book and started another!) I also began Knights by Diana Perez and Beasts of Ruin by Ayana Gray.

If You Care by Evan Barlow has been on REPEAT, as has Highway 6 by The Beaches. I highly recommend both.

I haven’t watched much TV since last time, but I took an extremely lazy day after our Pittsburgh trip since I was so wiped out. That led to binging the entire first half of Bridgerton season three and catching up on Grey’s Anatomy (which I might be behind again already).

Deny Me, The Nightshade Boy (The Heartwood Trilogy)
A cozy queer romance against the backdrop of wild and dangerous Fae magic.
Andrew has been haunted by the Folk ever since his mother’s addiction to Fae-spelled foods. It was never his intention to fall for Micah, whose mysterious nature suggests more than just human lineage, but Micah has a certain… charm to him that Andrew finds irresistible. While their ensuing romance seems to be going well, the Folk from Micah’s past demand his attention… continue reading.

The First Wordweaver: A Ryvenlock Trilogy Prequel
A new age dawns. You must seek the phoenix in the mountains, in the darkness of the earth. There, you must face the shadows and return worthy to be called king.
When 18-year-old Vilden receives a prophecy telling him to travel north to become worthy of ruling his people, he has no choice but to obey. Secrets Of The Volkovs (The Secrets Series Book 1)
Disappearances, deaths, threats…
The local police are beginning to suspect all these crimes are linked. They’re being committed by the sinister and mysterious Volkov family. There’s just one problem: They can’t prove it.
In order to take down the Volkovs and put a stop to these crimes, they call in a young, ambitious policeman, Antonin Jelennski. Antonin travels hundreds of miles, leaving his fiancee behind, to go undercover… continue reading.

Please take note that this is a system to spotlight other indie authors per their request. These titles have not been vetted and readers are encouraged to do their due diligence beforehand.
Until next month, friends! (Unless you hear from me sooner for the cover reveal!)
Stay strange,
Bri
