Musing, Tidbits, and Other Strange Happenings From Bri Eberhart – November Newsletter

Hey Strangers,

Last Saturday, I finished a messy first draft of MonsterHouse, my adult paranormal thriller.

So much work needs to be done on it, so while I know it’s not ready for beta readers, it’s still in the shape of a book, which is wild.

MonsterHouse is my fifth completed novel, and I’m already halfway through my sixth (Strangers # 3).

The pendulum continues to swing between “Wow, you wrote another book” and “You still have a lot of work to do.” I ended up taking a week off leading up to my birthday (33 now!), but now this week, I’m diving into edits, my favorite part.

I cleaved myself in two for this book, and I’m still pulling parts of me out to get it right where I want it. I don’t want to say this is the book of my heart because who knows what the future will hold, but as of right now, it’s pretty damn close.

MonsterHouse contains missing people, spirit possession, generational curses, and a sentient house, along with anxiety rep, and touching on other mental health factors that may or may not keep me up at night, wondering about my sanity sometimes.

This one I’ll be querying sometime in the new year, so who knows, maybe you’ll all get to see it someday. Keep your fingers crossed that an agent ends up loving it as much as I do!

Once MonsterHouse is off with beta readers, I’ll be going full steam ahead on Strangers # 3, which is currently around 51,000 words (about halfway!) I’m going to continue cycling between edits for MonsterHouse and finishing a draft for S3, so I can keep both plates spinning. While it seems like a lot of work (it is, there’s no way around that), it’s actually a lot easier for me to juggle since one is in the editing phase, while the other is drafting. Trying to draft two books at once is much harder for me than having them in different stages of creation.

More info to come on S3 as I settle back into that world, but for now, my mind is still tied up with MonsterHouse. I’m so excited and scared to send it to others!

I’m a big fat liar and have four more events coming up to finish off 2025. I really thought I was done after RAGE in Atlantic City, but how could I say no? So, find me either this month or next!

(I haven’t updated the graphic yet, but just got word that the December 13th event will no longer be held at the Galleria Mall, so more info to come on that asap! Make sure you’re following me on Instagram because updates will be posted there first.)

This past Friday, I turned 33! I have mixed feelings about my birthday. My 30s have been my best decade yet, so I don’t really mind growing older, yet there’s still something inherently sad about it. Maybe just the inevitable passing of time—don’t blink.

As a side note, Chris did get me tickets, though, for Twilight in Concert this Friday as a birthday present! I’m very excited about that.

Since last month’s newsletter, I’ve read Bloody Spade by Brittany M. Willows, The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, My Roommate Is a Vampire by Jenna Levine, Demon Song by Kelsea Yu, and Within Forsaken Shadows by Marissa Miller.

I’m currently reading A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn, Hollow by Taylor Grothe, and The House by Phillip R. Eaton.

Florence & The Machine’s new album came out on Halloween, and I’ve been OBSESSED. I listened to it three times that day alone, a fourth time that weekend, and have continued throughout the week.

Portugal. The Man also dropped a new album this past Friday, the 7th, which was a great birthday present.

Keep all the new music coming!!

I’ve had The Haunting of Hill House on my radar for a while now, but had an inkling it’d be a good MonsterHouse comp, so I started it recently and FLEW through it. I absolutely loved everything about it, and I was right! It’s an excellent MH comp.

I started The Haunting of Bly Manor last night, just for fun, because I don’t think this will be so much of a comp as compared to the other.

Damian Quinn Masters is many things:

A distinguished businessman, a medical genius, a renowned bioenergetics theorist, and a rather publicized bachelor-

But he has a few skeletons in the closet, perhaps quite literally, given he’s a paranormal police force for the realm of the dead.

With the notorious GHUL agency out for blood and a vigilante teenager with no sense of consequence on the prowl? He may be looking at going from ‘half-dead’ to… continue reading.

BOOK ONE OF THE VAMPIRE FROM HELL TRILOGY

The murder of her parents was still an open wound for young Fiona. Moving out to California after what happened was supposed to be the catalyst for her mental health recovery. It was supposed to provide her with relief as she started her life a new, looking for happiness and love. However, her dark past continued to haunt her, never letting her have a moment of rest, until a “knight in shining armor” came to her rescue… continue reading.

My name was Hazel. Back when I was alive, I mean. I like to think that I was a good person – I certainly tried to be.

I was honest, helpful, loving, loyal and most of all, I always tried. Tried to do my best, tried to help, tried to always be better.

So imagine my surprise when I woke after my death, and found myself in hell.

The Haunting of Hill House. OMG! The best. I didn’t make it through The Haunting of Bly Manor, but I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts. Have you seen The Fall of the House of Usher? I LOVED that show as well. – T.K. Ambers (tkambers@yahoo.com)
