Hey, Strangers!
This month’s newsletter is coming in pretty late, sorry about that! While January took approximately 18 years to crawl by, the first week of February has seemed to make up for it.
While typing this, it’s currently -2 degrees (Fahrenheit) where I live, and January has come with lots and lots and lots of snow, so suffice it to say, my cabin fever is at an all-time high! I can’t wait to see the grass again someday. Hopefully, sooner than later.
Anyway, let’s get into it.

Well, MonsterHouse (official title below), my adult paranormal thriller, is officially finished and off in the querying trenches. It’s still out with some beta readers to tie up anything that might have been overlooked, but I’m pretty confident in this book and wanted to get back into agents’ inboxes before I pivot back to Strangers #3. Thank you, thank you, thank you to my lovely critique partners and early beta readers who helped get this book where it needs to be. <3.
So, I’m here to reveal my official ~ agent’s guide~ for THE DELIVERANCE OF BRIAR GLEN:

And on that note, that means I get to revisit my boy, Theo. I’ve already written over 50k for S3, but it’s been a long time since I’ve looked at it, so I’m starting this week by rereading what I already have, and then brainstorming on how to make it better and how to tie up the series.
Brainstorming will turn into a revised outline, eventually, and then I’ll be back to drafting. Strangers # 3 is back in business, y’all.

A new event snuck in! As of right now, here are my upcoming events:

I’m currently working on a cool, non-writing project that I hope takes off, but I can’t say too much until I know if it flops or not. So, stay tuned!
Besides that, January consisted of my husband turning 40! & making a vision board with some friends, seeing Rent at the Lockport Palace, which was AMAZING, and hanging out at the Newfane Library for a few hours, selling some books!
If it weren’t for all the snow, and some health scares within the family, and the nightmare that is this administration and ICE, I’d say it was a decent month.
But all in all, January was just exhausting, and I have little hope that the next three years will be any better.
Still, we fight.

Since last month’s newsletter, I’ve read Hazelthorn by CG Drews, The Emotional Craft of Fiction: How to Write the Story Beneath the Surface by Donald Maass, Man, F*ck This House (And Other Disasters) by Brian Asman, The Graceview Patient by Caitlin Starling, The Devils by Joe Abercrombie, Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor, Model Home by Rivers Solomon, Murder Road by Simone St. James, and The Book of Cold Cases, also by Simone St. James.
(What? Think I’m trying to escape real life or something?)
I’m currently reading A Box Full of Darkness by Simone St. James and The Light Between Us by Kristie Price!
(Why so much Simone St. James? She was recommended to me as a potential author to comp for agents, so now I’m just apparently inhaling her books.)

I’ve always enjoyed Half Moon Run, but lately, it’s become an obsession. And if you’ve never heard She Wants To Know, you should immediately go listen to it. Don’t worry. We’ll wait.

Will I ever not be behind in TV shows? Doubtful. I’m currently (somewhat) keeping up with The Pitt, The Rookie, and Grey’s Anatomy.
But I’m still behind in Wednesday and didn’t even realize Bridgerton dropped new episodes.
Out of all of these, though, I have to recommend The Pitt. If you’re okay with medical gore, it’s a must.

One day is all it takes to change a life. During this one day, Julia’s life as she knows it is completely turned upside down and nothing will remain the same.
Julia is an eighteen year old, on the brink of adulthood, who lives in an underground community. She is excited for her future and becoming a cherished member of the Society.
The Society has other plans for her and she must navigate through this perilous journey. She finds an inner strength to face her fears through life threatening challenges, risks, and dangers… continue reading.

Faced with postpartum depression, raising her daughter alone, and a looming apartment search, Nel is spiraling. With no help from her daughter’s father and little support from her family, she isn’t sure where to start or who to turn to.
Until her college roommate stumbles back into her life ten years after graduation.
Rosie didn’t expect to end up at her former roommate’s apartment after wallowing in shots of tequila. After discovering Rosie was kicked out of her burlesque troupe… continue reading.
Louella’s life has never been her own. Surprisingly, it’s never really bothered her before. On Kapu Island, she has everything she needs: her family, her dragon, her secret (and totally illegal) all-female militia, and as much pineapple cake as she can possibly eat. But with her arranged marriage fast approaching, the traditions she’s expected to uphold are starting to feel a little suffocating.
Then one night, on what is likely her last-ever flight with her dragon, Shea, something bizarre happens. Louella crash lands in a strange world… continue reading.

Please take note that this is a system to spotlight other indie authors per their request. These titles have not been vetted and readers are encouraged to do their due diligence beforehand.
Until next time friends!
Stay strange,
Bri
