Musing, Tidbits, and Other Strange Happenings From Bri Eberhart – October Newsletter

Hey Strangers,

This newsletter is coming in super late this month! For those new around here, hi, hello, thank you so much for signing up for my monthly newsletter, aka my word vomit! Most of you newcomers have signed up at my most recent event: RAGE in Atlantic City, NJ. So, welcome! Thanks for following me all the way back to Buffalo, NY!

I’m glad the event turned out alright because the rest of that trip was questionable at best, but we made it work! Even when the ceiling started leaking on us, and we had to go to the lobby at four am. Or when we sat in the hallway and watched grown adults run and charge for the nearest available elevator because there was such a long wait.

Wild times. But more on that below.

I’m sad to say that Strangers in Our Heads (Strangers # 1) did not make it to the final round of the 2025 Book Bloggers’ Novel of the Year Award, however, for making it to the semi-finals, the book is going to get a mini spotlight tour on November 6th which is actually Strangers #1’s second birthday, so that’s neat?! Also, it’s one day before my 33rd birthday, so happy birthday to me and my book!

We’re also coming up on some book anniversaries:

Strangers in Our Hearts (Strangers # 2) turns ONE on October 22nd, and as mentioned before, Strangers in Our Heads (Strangers # 1) turns TWO on November 6th. The same day as the spotlight tour!

So, to celebrate, both eBooks will be ON SALE for only 99 cents a piece on Amazon between 10/22 and 11/07. Mark your calendars and download your copies when it’s time. And make sure you’re following me on Instagram to get reminded of the sale!

There is also a book giveaway I’m a part of, ending on 10/31/25. Be sure to participate for a chance to win eight books! Details below.

Additionally, I’m getting back into the rhythm for MonsterHouse as well. I worked on it for nearly every day in September, until the week before Atlantic City, and then life got too busy, and then I was gone for four days, and then it took me a couple of days (read: a week) to get back into the swing of things, so I’m slowly making my way back to it.

Right before the trip, I honestly just wanted to hibernate and do nothing but work on this draft, so I’m hoping to find that level of obsession again soon!! I’m officially on “deadline” for it because I might be returning to college in January for one singular class. (Hopefully, I’ll know more on that by next month’s newsletter!)

But thankfully, I thrive on pressure. Don’t get me wrong. Writing at least 50k by December is going to be a feat, and I’ll most likely hate life, BUT… It’s doable. That’s only like 1,000 words a day. Easy. (She says, nervously, while sweating).

I have one event left this year! Newly on the books, and just announcing for the first time now, so if you’re near Tonawanda, come see me at the Literary Lounge 716 on November 22nd from 11 am – 4 pm.

I think after this, I should be taking the rest of the year off. Unless something crazy comes up that I just can’t miss, but I’m tired. I did a lot of events this year, and while they’re so fulfilling, they also send me into recovery mode for a few days (or weeks if out of state).

I am working on next year’s calendar, though, so hopefully, I’ll have 2026 dates for you soon!

ATLANTIC CITY.

OH BOY.

I’m not really a big public complainer. It takes a lot for me to get fed up. But I went two nights with hardly any sleep (first night in Baltimore = 2 hours), and then I had the book event (sorry if I looked like a zombie!! I was one!), and then after that, the first night in the hotel, I got less than 5 hours of sleep after a longggg day. So when the ceiling in OUR ROOM started to leak at four am, I was ready to throw in the towel.

Nothing says a peaceful vacation like an engineer in your hotel room in the middle of the night, testing the integrity of your ceiling to see if it’s safe for you to sleep there because they’re sold out, and if it wasn’t safe?! Then what??

Anyway, I fitfully fell back to sleep surrounded by the sweet aroma of mildew and mold. And they still haven’t refunded us for anything! Our new room had a cockroach?! Puhlease. The hotel from hell!!

Sunday, though, was salvageable. Outside of the hotel, I might add. My friends and I spent all day on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, shopping, riding small rollercoasters, playing fair games, drinking, and the best yet: standing in the ocean.

That moment in the ocean is the most peaceful I’ve felt in a long time. I’m a big believer in energy, and as my feet sank in the sand, and the current tugged at my legs, I pictured all the negative bits leaving me, claimed by the ocean, and being pulled out with the tide.

I could breathe easier, literally grounding myself in nature.

If you ever feel like you need to go touch grass, I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

I remember my knees buckling, just the slightest, as a strong wave drew back, and I smiled out to the horizon, where there were no buildings. No pressure. No urgency. All the while thinking, This. This is what it’s all about.

(But still. I don’t think we should have to pay for what we did for leaky ceilings, mold smell, and cockroaches.)

(Yes, I did have an outfit change at the event but that’s because there was the PERFECT tshirt for Gemma and Draven. “Run little mouse” IYKYK.)

ANYWAY.

As for September, it was a month for music. We saw Alison Krauss & Union Station, which was AMAZING. And then a few days later, we saw the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, which was also beautiful!!

The rest of the time has been spent writing, cuddling with the cats, playing video games on the Switch, having bonfires, and going on hikes in the woods.

And last but not least, my husband and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary back on 09/28! ❤

Since last month’s newsletter, I’ve read We Live Here Now by Sarah Pinborough, The Art of Fear: How to Write Scary Ghost Stories that Terrify Your Readers by James Colton, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab, All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson, The Ashfire King (The Sandsea Trilogy # 2) by Chelsea Abdullah and Blood Moon by Britney S. Lewis.

I’m currently reading Bloody Spade (The Cardplay Duology # 1) by Brittany M. Willows and starting The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood and Demon Song by Kelsea Yu.

I’ve been all over the place lately. I have a “Favorite” playlist on Spotify with nearly 43 hours’ worth of songs. Every time I find a song I like, I add it here if it doesn’t fit a book playlist, so I don’t lose it.

Lately, I’ve just been listening to that on shuffle.

I didn’t realize that when I dropped my last newsletter, they had already uploaded the final episodes of Wednesday, so I’m back to being behind in that. But I also recently started The Pitt, and I’m up to episode five. I just know I’m going to cry at least once, if not more, every episode, so I need to prepare. Honestly, the coolest premise to a show, though. One ER shift? An episode for every hour? Bravo.

(Also, as an editorial assistant/author who works from home, I feel like I’m never allowed to complain ever again.)

A cat named Pickles started the apocalypse.

Not for our world but for Eden, the land just beyond the glass.

Armed with a backpack full of seemingly useless junk and a fair amount of sarcasm, Adora Blithe must write her own story in a land that was severed from our own thousands of years ago. But is there a happily ever after when you’re destined to kill Prince Charming?

Be the hero of Sebille!

Hi Bri!  It was wonderful to meet you at RAGE. I hope you get a refund. What you went through is unacceptable. You weren’t in room 1700, were you? That would have been below us, and while we never got to use our whirlpool, because it leaked, they supposedly came in and worked on it the evening you had the leaking ceiling. I hope it wasn’t ours leaking into your room :o. I heard other people talk about issues with water too. Never again, lol. It would be nice to stay in touch with you, connect more on empathic thoughts and experiences, as I’m finally coming out more publicly with who I am and how it affects life. I’ve felt different from the majority of people in my life for some time, so it’s been hard to fully step into myself and speak out about my beliefs and experiences, but the time is now. Wishing you the best!Trish(T.K. Ambers)
