Hey Strangers!

I changed my title this month to grab more attention, but don’t worry, we’ll be back to just “Musing, Tidbits, and Other Strange Happenings From Bri Eberhart” shortly.

My Street Team application is closing this month, so I wanted to ensure everyone had a chance to see it and enter! More info on that below, but stick around because this is your chance to get my books for FREE!

Also, there are A LOT of exciting things to cover this month, so buckle up!

Where do I even begin?!

First, the first draft (more like a zero draft) for Strangers # 3 is OFFICIALLY written. It’s messy, lol. Lots of edits will be needed, but I’m officially on deadline to get this to my editor by early fall, so we finally have a loose timeline forming! I can guess the book will be out early 2027, but I absolutely do not want to make any false promises, so I’d rather take it slow and steady to ensure I’m delivering the best finale possible.

Second, Strangers in Our Heads (Strangers # 1) made it to the short list for the Indie Visible Awards!!! Thank you so much for voting in the first round, but I need your help again!! The most-voted-for book in each category wins, so we just need one final push.

It’s listed under “Young Adult,” again, and you can vote here. Voting closes June 15th!

Thank you so much!

Third, I’m looking for more Street Team members! I want to give every member a chance to catch up on the universe before I deliver free eARCs for the finale, so I’m opening applications super early! If you’re accepted and haven’t read the series yet, you’ll receive a free digital copy of Strangers in Our Heads & Strangers in Our Hearts.

So, basically, you’ll get the ENTIRE trilogy for free! Why wouldn’t you sign up?!

Some additional perks of being on my Street Team:
-A thank you gift for the support at the end of the release (You must be active and post about Strangers # 3 on social media to qualify for the gift).
-Early access to cover reveals, teasers, news, character art, and more
-Fun games closer to release and a chance to win prizes
-Access to my other author adventures

How to tell if you’re a good fit? Great question!
-You love supporting indie authors
-You’re intrigued by kids with powers who have to fight the Authorities to save themselves (A la Strangers — My current series is an upper YA Contemporary Fantasy/Science Fantasy)
-You want to explore other worlds made by me in the future as they publish (current WIPs are in the adult categories: paranormal thriller and a romantic fantasy!)
-You like posting bookish content, such as sharing cover reveals on social media and hyping the book up on the release dates

Applications close at midnight on June 13th, 2026. Acceptances will be emailed shortly thereafter with a link to join my Discord server. Apply now.

More about my current series:
Upper YA Contemporary Fantasy/Science Fantasy

Strangers is a YA contemporary fantasy series that deals with grief, closure, accepting yourself for who you are, and discovering your place in the world.

In Book One, Strangers in Our Heads, you follow along as Gemma shows up in Theo’s world—their dreams becoming a shocking reality. The problem is that neither thought the other truly existed. Now, they have to learn to trust each other in person, as much as they had in their fantasies, if they want their secrets to remain hidden. On top of that, the Authorities are hunting kids with powers for being different. But staying under the radar won’t be easy when Gemma is hunted by a vengeful entity hell-bent on stealing her abilities.

Then, as we progress through the series with Book Two, Strangers in Our Hearts, we bleed into science fantasy with added sci-fi elements. When a new group swoops in with their own unique powers and motivations that threaten to ruin everything Theo and Gemma have worked toward, the invitation into their broader community has its appeals but equal drawbacks.

In a cruel, contemporary world, can a handful of magical teens rely on one another to beat the odds?

Apply to be a part of my Street Team here!

Fourth, Strangers in Our Heads is a part of another Stuff Your Kindle event! From June 10-13, you can download the eBook for only 99 cents (or it’s also always available on Kindle Unlimited for free). This round, we have a ton of fantasy books either for free or 99 cents, so make sure you check out the sale.

Fifth, someone pinch me now. I was one of twelve writers selected out of hundreds of applicants to be in Once Upon a Book Club’s Advent Calendar. This winter, you can get an anthology that comes with 12 gifts, each gift correlating to one of our short stories, so as you read, you open them. It’s to celebrate 12 Days of Book-Mas, and I’m officially on deadline for that as well!

This is one of the coolest experiences, and I’m over the moon to be selected.

Since I’m on a tight deadline for this, Strangers # 3 edits are on hold until July, but honestly, that’s a good thing because I want to come back to it with fresh eyes anyway.

Lastly, I’m still querying literary agents with The Deliverance of Briar Glen, my adult paranormal thriller, but I did step away from a Revise and Resubmit (R&R) from a smaller press for The Ravens Mark, my adult romantic fantasy. While the editor was so sweet and seemed to enjoy my book a lot, I couldn’t quite get on board with the voice changes, so I decided to step away from a potential deal.

It was hard to do, but ultimately, the right call, and I’ve been considering publishing it myself once the Strangers trilogy is over. More to come on that down the road!

May consisted of book events, writer meetups, a Women’s March, and seeing Dead Poet Society and Highly Suspect live.

Highly Suspect was amazing, as always, but I have to say… Dead Poet Society brought everything I could hope for and more. They were freaking AMAZING. I also requested that they play “i hope you hate me.” on Instagram. And they did!! It was the second song of the night.

I’m officially set for life and can die happy.

Since last month’s newsletter, I’ve read To Deal with Kings by M.K. Lobb, Icebreaker by Hannah Grace, Parable of the Talents by Octavia E. Butler, and The Quick by Lauren Owen.

I’m currently reading Rekha and the Inevitability of Life by Aaron Randolph, Unpacking Secrets by Rachel Fitzjames, and A Map of Days by Ransom Riggs.

I’m seeing The Strokes in Canada this month with my dear friend Kate, so of course, I’ve switched over to listening to them around the clock.

I CAN’T FREAKING WAIT FOR THIS CONCERT! We’re going to have a blast.

My husband and I have finished Resident Alien. It’s SO good. If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it.

I’m also on season two of ER, and I now understand everything. This show came out when I was only 2, so while I’ve seen episodes before, I was young and didn’t really care. Watching it fully as an adult? 10/10. The show is great, and I understand why everyone is obsessed with George Clooney. Of course, I started it because of Noah Wyle and to fill the emptiness left by waiting for another season of The Pitt, so that’s another show I highly recommend.
