Hey, Strangers!
This month’s newsletter is coming a tad late since I haven’t found the time to sit down and work on it. Even now I’m barely squeezing it in, but I wanted to get it out sooner rather than later, so I’m taking a moment to pause all other happenings and settle down to write this.
So, let’s get into it.
I’m SO close yet SO far away from wrapping up edits on Strangers # 3. I have today off, though (from my normal day job), so I plan on dedicating the entire day (yes, all day!!) to work on it. I’m really hoping a full eight-hour shift will get me super close to the finish line.
Once this book is turned in to my editor, I’ll be starting to do other fun things, like posting the title. I also just got the first art sketches back for the last three characters, so that will be coming shortly as well. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram, so you don’t miss anything!
And not quite yet, but in a month or two, I’ll be reaching out to Emily to start working on the book cover, so stay tuned. Things will start happening quickly!
The eBooks for Strangers in Our Heads and Strangers in Our Hearts will also be ON SALE twice this month, so you have two opportunities to get these books either for free or for very cheap!
From September 10th-12th, you can download Strangers in Our Heads (Strangers # 1) FOR FREE, only on Amazon, during Indie Visible’s Freebie Frenzy.
Then, September 23rd-26th, you can download both Strangers in Our Heads (Strangers # 1) and Strangers in Our Hearts (Strangers # 2) for only 99 cents a piece during Indie Author Collective’s September Series Book Mash event (also on Amazon).
This is the perfect time to get caught up on both books so you’ll be ready for Strangers # 3 early next year.
On the MonsterHouse front, I’m still querying agents! Albeit that has taken a back seat with everything else going on lately, so I’ll be researching more agents and continuing that avenue next month once my book is turned in.
Also, there’s still time to pre-order Once Upon A Book Club’s 12 Days of Book-Club-Mass Advent Calendar that comes out this year! I have a dystopian short story in there, and I’m so, so excited for everyone to get their anthology with the assortment of gifts!

Yesterday was my third year at Better Off Read, and IT WAS AMAZING. This is easily my biggest event every year, and this year, there were 130 vendors, 60 of whom were authors.
I love how much this festival has grown over the years, and I can’t wait to see what they do next. Huge shoutout to Ian and Marlee for running this thing because every year, I look forward to it, and every year, it does not disappoint.
I was so close to selling out Saturday. In fact, if I’d brought my original count with me, I WOULD have sold out, but in a last-second decision, I threw ten more books of each into my pack, and man, you guys showed up.
I’m beyond thankful—for old readers who’ve come back, for new readers who are excited to dive into the Strangers universe. For old friends I’ve had a chance to talk to real quick, and new friends I’ve just met as we spent the day together, handling all the craziness of droves of people and standing on our feet for 6+ hours.
All of it.
I’m amazed every day, and I can’t thank you all enough.
One event down, five to go.
Two events have been added since my last newsletter update, so now I have two more this month, and then two in October, and one in November (on my birthday), so if you missed me yesterday, you have plenty of time to grab some books before I dig a hole and hibernate for the winter.

Next month, I’m heading to Vegas, and it’s actually surreal how quickly time has gone by. I swear it was four months away, and then I blinked, and now it’s almost here.
My main priority is to finish my edits by the end of the month. Then I need to balance my events (in-person and online book sales) that are also this month. Oh, and you know, my normal 40/hr week job.
But once that’s all behind me, I’ll only be two weeks away from having a vacation, so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. There are just 800 roadblocks in the way that I have to hurdle past.
It’s fine.
We’re fine.
A train in motion stays in motion… right?
That said, let’s rewind to the previous month’s worth of activities.
Since last month’s newsletter, I went to Toronto with my friend Kristie to see Jimmy Eat World, and it was AMAZING. It was the 25th anniversary of Bleed American, my favorite album of theirs! Plus, I got to hear Pain and 23, which was just the icing on the cake—an absolutely perfect night.
In other not-so-fun news, I also had my first-ever iron infusion. I’ve been running on fumes—quite literally, my ferritin was down to 6—for months. And it was only 12 last year, so needless to say, my storage has been a bit low for quite some time. Long story short, I needed an infusion. I’m still waiting for the benefits to kick in fully, but I’m hoping they will at some point. As a chronically ill girlie who struggles with constant fatigue, I would really like just one thing to go right, please!
Since last month’s newsletter, I’ve read The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst, Mickey7 by Edward Ashton, My Inner Child Wants To Murder Mindfully by Karsten Dusse, This Raging Sea by De Elizabeth, and A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara.
I’m currently reading A Sea of Worlds by Becca Mionis and The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
I’ve made the painful mistake of going back and listening to my playlist for THE RAVENS MARK, my adult romantic fantasy that has yet to be published (but is written). I want to get the ball rolling on that project SO BADLY, especially after listening to the playlist again, but I must be patient.
Strangers # 3 first, and then we can talk about THE RAVENS MARK.
My husband and I binge-watched Off Campus. (More like I watched it in his office while he was trying to work, but he was still there.)
It started as a “sick day” to recover from the infusion, but then I got hooked.
I now get it, y’all. I’m excited for season two.
